Year started in real estate: 1994
How did you get started in real estate? I think I must have the gene. I grew up in the area and have had an interest in real estate ever since I can remember. My background in retail decorative home goods with Neiman Marcus has been very beneficial in my successful home-staging service for sellers.
How long with the current company? Six years
Licenses and designations: Real estate sales in Maryland and the District; certified buyer representative
Associations: Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors, Washington D.C. Area Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors
Awards: Evers & Co. Real Estate top five in sales, 2004-07; greatest number of transactions, 2007; No. 2 in volume, 2007.
Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Having my best year ever in 2007 despite the real estate slowdown.
What is your area of specialty? Staging and marketing
Highest-priced home sold: $1,300,000
Most memorable house: The house had an underground storage tank, still in use, that turned out to be leaking. The cleanup delayed settlement by about four months.
Most challenging experience: My sellers and I found out at the settlement table that their garage was about two feet over an easement. We had to get the owners of seven houses to agree to a modification of the easement in the last week in December.
Age: 43
Family: Husband, Duncan; children Malcolm, Eli and Katie
Pets: Two hermit crabs.
Education: Bachelor of science in business, University of Maryland, 1994
Community affiliations/service: I am active with my children's elementary and middle schools & my neighborhood association.
Last book read: "In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto," by Michael Pollan
Last movie seen: "Hoop Dreams"
